April 1 – We drove through La Mancha territory, saw a number of windmills from the road, then went to Toledo. First stop was a ‘factory’ where we looked at steel swords, etc. but I didn’t buy anything. The swords were fairly priced, though. After that, we went to the Toledo Cathedral which was huge, with lots of gold in the altar area but it seemed rather cavernous and dark in other areas. The Church of Santa Tome with its El Greco painting was interesting in the artwork, but seemed ordinary otherwise. We also went to a synagogue with Moorish architecture which was very interesting. I’d been to all of them before the last time I was in Spain but it was good to revisit. After that, we walked down to the Roman bridge and then drove to Madrid.

And then the next day, home.

March 31 – An early start, we arrived in Granada about 11:30 AM, then immediately went to the Alhambra. It was as beautiful as ever, and this time, the lion fountain was all in sunlight so I got some great shots. After that, we went over to Generalife gardens. Some were having a hard time walking around and it is a bit of walking but the sunlight was gorgeous and it was a perfect temperature and day.

After going back to the hotel for a little while, we were off to see the Carthusian Monastery, started in 1516 and finished nearly 300 years later. Alas I wasn’t able to take photos inside, then next was to the Royal Chapel where Isabella and Ferdinand were buried (1505-1521) but again I couldn’t take pictures inside. Sigh. Then we went off to dinner which was lovely.

Catching up

It's been a while since I've posted. LJ (& DW) don't have the same vibrancy as they used to for me - which isn't helped by me not posting either, I know. I can hardly complain about my sense of loss of community when I'm not posting much myself!
Anyhoo - a little update on things at Chez Buddy.

Bud's doing really well. He's living with severe IBD, but his latest meds seem to have really helped & he's gained back all of the weight that he lost. He's so well that some of his other meds have been reduced or removed completely. This time last year, he was such a poorly boy & we didn't think that he'd make it, but he's such a fighter. He's on a prescription diet, but his appetite has come back & he's really enjoying life. Although he is a bit of an old man now - he's 11 & 1/2 - & so he does snooze quite a bit! ♥

Here he is on one of our favourite walks. It's a National Trust hill range & woodland that's 5 minutes walk from our door.

I'm doing really well, too. I saw my oncologist a few weeks ago & he's very happy with my scans & blood tests. I have to go back in the autumn for some more extensive scans, but so far things are looking very good. *fc*

Mr B, Bud & myself are off on our holibobs in a week or so. We've hired a cottage in Northumberland that overlooks the sea & you can see Dunstanburgh Castle (a gorgeous ruin) along the coast. So, it's going to be lovely morning walks on the beach & lots of other exploring - Hadrian's Wall & castles galore! Yay!

I hope that everyone is doing well. I do try & keep an eye on my flist & reading circle, even if I don't always comment.
*hugs*

On Monday, because we don't know how to slow down ;) - we went out to Paignton Zoo - and zoo trips ALWAYS mean a ton of pictures to get through afterwards *g*

Under the cut are some of the pictures and at the bottom of the post is the link to the full album on flickr.com - I have to admit, that I managed to cook it all down to 136 pictures in the album, where I came back from the trip with a good 600-700 pictures. It's what always happens - I get carried away ;)

We drove from just outside Tavistock, across Dartmoor to Paignton - along the way hoping to see Dartmoor ponies (wild ponies) and we got more than we'd bargained for - ended up behind a car with one of the ponies trotting along the road, not really able to get off it, but not really giving a toss about there being several cars behind it.

Heading south after stopping for the night in Crewe, we decided to deviate from our course towards Cornwall and Devon. The detour? Stonehenge - because we both have it on the list of places we'd like to actually see for real.

So, Saturday morning we set out and we hit it in the middle of heat of the day - early afternoon. Waiting in line was a killer - sweat dripping and nothing to block off the sun. Well worth it though ;) - We took turns to leave the queue for the tickets to stand in the shade and breeze at the building. Included in the ticket is thankfully a short bus trip up to Stonehenge itself. And oddly enough, because they don't allow people too close, due to the layout, I managed to get pictures without people in it.

Troll is back

Since the troll doesn't like porn in his stories, I had threatened to write porn and post it in my reply every time he said something more.

And he's back with an even longer reply. He even said I was like Donald Trump in bullying him. That made me laugh.

So I wrote revenge porn and posted it in my reply. We'll see  how that goes. You all may be the beneficiary if it keeps up because it's shaping up into a story. Just be warned!

And even if he complained to the mods, I had told him to go away before, and that if he didn't, I'd write porn to make him leave. Since it's my own story that I'm posting in, and the AO3 is there for stories, I figured I'm good.
